Wide Roman Scutum w/ Round Boss

This Roman Legionnaire’s Scutum is the widest reproduction shield we’ve ever offered! Roman soldiers grouped themselves tightly together and used these shields for total body protection as they advanced on the battlefield. This shield will be featured in an upcoming blockbuster sequel film about ancient Rome. The polished steel boss provides a "nest" for the hand and doubles as a punching weapon in close-quarters combat. Wood construction with brass rims that have been given an aged finish. The back features a linen liner and wood reinforcing bands. Wood grip and a round boss. Also available with a rectangular boss.
